Dr. Nielsen completed the University of Arizona Fellowship Program in Integrative Medicine (http://integrativemedicine.arizona.edu). The Program defines integrative medicine as "healing-oriented medicine that takes account of the whole person (body, mind, and spirit), including all aspects of lifestyle. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship and makes use of all appropriate therapies, both conventional and alternative."
Dr. Nielsen recently completed Mindfulness Training for Professionals at Duke Integrative Medicine based on the Mindfulness - Based Stress Reduction Program at U. Mass Medical founded by Jon Kabat - Zinn www.umassmed.edu/cfm/index.aspx
Dr. Nielsen is currently undertaking a study of herbal medicine in order to help her patients understand and utilize this important therapeutic modality.
