Marissa is a Brooklyn, NY native who moved to the area in 2018, and joined Women’s Care in 2019. She started out working in the animal field, and realized she had a gift for consoling, and putting their human’s at ease. So she made the natural progression into healthcare by becoming a registered nurse. After a positive experience in her own pregnancy, and a period of working with midwives, she decided that becoming a midwife herself was the next logical step, and she couldn’t be happier. She, of course continues to love and rescue animals.
“Happiness in my job is when a patient brings in a list of questions, because that gives me the opportunity to pull up a chair, sit down and educate. Educating patients equates to empowering them. When someone is empowered, they make better health decisions, which in turn leads to significantly improved health outcomes for them and their babies. I want that for everyone.”
